Coronado Island -31 Hours in San Diego Part IV

Hotel del Coronado, built in 1888, and on the list of National landmarks.
After visiting Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs Beach and Fort Rosecreans, I stopped at Adalbertos Mexican Food at 23rd & Market in Sherman Heights.  A local cop took me there a few months back when I was in town and it quickly became my favorite Mexican food in town.

Housed in an old Cali-style Taco Bell, Adalbertos is some of the  best Mexican food you'll find.  Looks like they have one in Sacramento too.

After lunch, it was on to Coronado Island which is the home of one of my favorite beaches,  Coronado Beach and the Hotel del Coronado which, I assume, does not have Government rates so is not an option for me when I travel there!!!

It was awesome to walk in the surf!  Times like this, I really miss Cali.....
Now, I didn't take this picture, you know, because I don't have a plane and I still can't fly (Tried once but it REALLY hurt jumping off that roof!)  I saw these sand dunes and mounds from the ground, but I had no idea they spelled out the name of the beach!  The Hotel del Coronado is to the left of the pic.  These shots were taken along the beach at the top of the pic.
Looking NW toward Point Loma.  Sunset Cliffs Beach and Ocean Beach were just around that point.

Footprints in the sand.

What a great day at the beach!!!!!!!!!!

Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery -31 Hours in San Diego Part III

Continuing my travels along the coast, I moved South from Sunset Cliffs Beach to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, which overlooks the city of San Diego on one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Fort Rosecrans is named after William Starke Rosecrans, a Union general in the American Civil War and has interred our veterans since the 1880's.

Of all of the National Cemeteries I've been to, this one is unique in that from just about the entire grounds, you can gaze out at the water which gives the whole place a completely different feel.

Surfers at Sunset Cliffs Beach - 31 Hours in San Diego Part II

Traveling South from Ocean Beach in San Diego, I came across several surfers at Sunset Cliffs Beach.   I spent some time sitting at the top of a cliff just enjoying the California scene!!!!

Ocean Beach -31 Hours in San Diego Part I

I recently spent a really short 31 hours in San Diego.  I like to make the most of the opportunity to travel and this trip was no exception.  Although I squeezed in some work and a couple hours of sleep, I took hundreds of photos all over the city, mostly at the beaches, Old Town San Diego and the Presidio.   I plan to put pics up in a series of albums to keep from causing anyone to get bored with photo overload!

I'm very happy with the results and I hope you enjoy them too....

This first series of photos are from the cliffs of Ocean Beach.
