MD Part I- Random Civil War Re-enactment-- 7/10/1863, Battle of Funkstown

We were passing through Funkstown, Maryland on July 21, 2012, and came across a full scale Civil War  Battle in progress in the middle of downtown!

I've never attended anything like this and thought this would be a good time to take in a little history of the area.  Below are several pictures from the event as well as a link to a site with much more information on this battle.

I tried to maintain the integrity of the time period in these photos be keeping spectators and modern items out wherever possible. I think that with the exception of the street, curb and yellow line, I was able represent the actual battle and not show any indications of when the shots were really taken.

These guys (and girls) really got into their costumes and maintained an 1860's feel.

It's amazing to see the way battles were fought 150 years ago.  These guys held up white flags  and all fighting stopped. They then met in the middle of the street and had a pow-wow.

In the end, someone's got to lose......
