Sunrise over the Chesapeake

I spent the morning practicing sunrise shots on the Chesapeake river.

You can just see the sun coming up in the center of the pic.

Early Morning - Reno/Sparks NV, and Surrounding Area Part I

This is part one of several planned photo blogs comprised of shots taken in and around Reno and Sparks, NV.  I kept each blog short, none more than 23 photos, but most are more like between 3 and 15 photos.  I'm breaking the series up in an attempt to keep alike photos together,

These shots were all taken August 1, early in the morning in North Sparks.
Sunrise over the mountains East of Sparks.
Moon setting towards Peavine Peak.
Quail on Martini Drive.
D'Andrea Parkway
Early morning moon above the MGM, or Bally's, or Grand Sierra Resort, or whatever it is this week....
Old trailer on Spanish Springs Rd.
Early morning sun lights up the sagebrush on Martini Rd.
The Nugget with the Mt. Rose face in the background.
One last shot of the sun rising over the Sparks mountains.
As always, if you click on the photos, a larger version will appear.

More to follow, thanks for looking!!!!!

'Golden Hour' on the National Mall

The US Capitol with the sun rising behind.
Someone suggested I get some pics in the 'Golden Hour' (aka 'Magic Hour) with some early morning or late evening sun.  I took these in my most photographed area, The National Mall, in Washington D.C.

I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out, especially since they were all taken with a Blackberry!!!!!!

Morning sun rays through a construction zone on the National Mall.
Air & Space Museum.
Any time I can get a nice shot of the sun, I'll do it...
Statue outside the Hirschorn Museum of Modern Art.
Another sculpture outside the Art Museum.
This Carousel is directly in front of the Smithsonian Castle.
Smithsonian Castle and the Washington Monument.  I had lost a good portion of the light behind the clouds by now.  I'll definitely be back to capture this with better light...
One last shot toward the Capitol.  Actually this was the first photo I took and the  photo at the beginning of the blog was the last.   I just wanted to mix it up a bit.....
