Each year in May, Law Enforcement Officers and Agencies throughout the country pause to remember those among us who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in the line of duty.
Each fallen BOP Staff Member was recalled today during the yearly BOP Ceremony at the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC's Judiciary Square. Attorney General Eric Holder, in his first attendance at this event as AG, recalled the story of how one of these heroes, Gregory Gunter, gave his life to protect others.

Since Joseph Waldrupe in 1901, we have had a total of 24 Correctional Staff lay down their lives in the line of duty, one of these being my friend, Scott Williams.
