The U.S. Capitol

It seems I can't walk past the U.S. Capitol without taking a picture of it.  I don't feel bad though, everyone else is doing the same thing.

I was at the Capitol early the other day and it was freezing out.  This meant  I got to take all the pictures I wanted, with no pesky people in my shots!!!!!

If the Columns above look familiar, that's because they match those in the next three shots from my previous blog detailing the National Columns at the Arboretum.

The National Column blog is here:  http://tinyurl.com/b7y8nkl

This and the next view were taken from the second floor of the  Library of Congress.  In the shot above, you can see the U.S. Capitol, the WWII Memorial, the Washington Monument, the National Mall, and the Smithsonian Castle.
Same shot as above, zoomed out.

Here's a few more in my ongoing documentation of the various sights of Washington D.C...

'Golden Hour' on the National Mall

The US Capitol with the sun rising behind.
Someone suggested I get some pics in the 'Golden Hour' (aka 'Magic Hour) with some early morning or late evening sun.  I took these in my most photographed area, The National Mall, in Washington D.C.

I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out, especially since they were all taken with a Blackberry!!!!!!

Morning sun rays through a construction zone on the National Mall.
Air & Space Museum.
Any time I can get a nice shot of the sun, I'll do it...
Statue outside the Hirschorn Museum of Modern Art.
Another sculpture outside the Art Museum.
This Carousel is directly in front of the Smithsonian Castle.
Smithsonian Castle and the Washington Monument.  I had lost a good portion of the light behind the clouds by now.  I'll definitely be back to capture this with better light...
One last shot toward the Capitol.  Actually this was the first photo I took and the  photo at the beginning of the blog was the last.   I just wanted to mix it up a bit.....
